What the Cost Calculator does
The Cost Calculator helps you price a job or product before you sell it. You list the materials, products and labour it takes, add your markup, and Worklog works out the total cost and a suggested selling price. You can pull lines straight from your price list, and save the finished costing back to your price list as an item.
You will find it under Price List. Open Cost Calculator and you will see the costings you have saved, each showing its cost, suggested price and when it was last updated. Tap any one to open and change it. Once you have a few, use the Search box to find one by name, and the A–Z / Recent toggle to sort by name or bring the latest to the top (tap the active one again to flip its order).
Cost a job
- Open the Cost Calculator and tap + New.
- In Job / product name, type what you're costing, for example Bathroom re-tile. There's an optional Notes / job description box under it for scope or conditions.
- If you're costing a batch — like 10 portions of a dish — set Number of units / portions and a Unit label (for example portion). Leave it at 1 for a one-off job.
- Fill in the three sections. Materials / ingredients and Products each take a Description and its R cost. Labour takes a Description, the Hours and the Rate (R/hr), and shows the line total for you.
- Tap + Add material, + Add product or + Add labour line for more rows, or use Add from your price list to drop in a saved item.
- In Markup % (profit on top of total cost), set the percentage to add on top of your cost. It starts at 30.
- Check the navy summary, then tap Save Costing.
Reading the summary
The navy box updates as you type. It shows:
- Total cost — every material, product and labour line added up.
- Labour hours — the hours across your labour lines (shown when there are any).
- Suggested price — the total cost plus your markup. You decide what you actually charge.
- Per unit — when you're costing more than one unit or portion, the suggested price per unit (shown when units is above 1).
Save it to your price list
Tap Save this costing to your price list to add the costed job to your Items as a product — its cost becomes the total cost and its sell price becomes the suggested price. If you costed more than one unit or portion, it saves the per-unit amounts instead. If the costing has labour hours, those are saved on the item too.
