What the Cash Flow report shows you
Cash Flow answers one simple question: for the time you pick, did more money come in than went out? It takes the income you have logged and the expenses you have logged, and shows the difference. It is a quick health check for you, not a document you send to anyone.
- IN is all the money you logged coming in for the period.
- OUT is all the money you logged going out for the period.
- NET CASH FLOW is IN minus OUT. The figure shows in light blue when you are ahead and in red when more went out than came in.
Before you start
The report only knows what you have captured. The more you log your money in and out, the truer the picture. If a sale or a purchase is missing, add it first and the report updates on its own.
Open the report and pick a period
- Go to Cash Flow — under the "Money" tools card, or the "Money" group on desktop (or open /cashflow).
- Find the row of period buttons: Today, This week, This month, This year and All time. Tap the one you want. This month is chosen to start with.
- The dark blue NET CASH FLOW card updates straight away, showing your IN, your OUT, and the net figure for that period.
See the fuller picture: Adjusted position
Under the blue card, when you are viewing All accounts, a white box first shows In your accounts now — every account's balance added together, the same figure as the account cards at the top of the report and on your dashboard. Below it, the Adjusted position (incl. what's outstanding) box adds in money that is promised but not yet in the bank, so you can see where you really stand.
- Cash on hand: the money the business holds right now. Usually the same as In your accounts now — it also counts any money you logged without picking an account.
- + Owed to you: your unpaid invoices, less any credit you owe customers on account.
- − You owe suppliers: your unpaid supplier invoices, less any credit a supplier owes you on account.
- Adjusted position: the three lines added together.
Stock on hand
Below the Adjusted position box (again when viewing All accounts) is a small note showing Stock on hand (at cost). This is the value of the stock items in your price list, worked out from each item's cost price and quantity. It is money tied up in inventory, so it is shown for information only and is not counted in your cash position.
Looking at one bank account
If you have set up two or more bank accounts, a row of account cards appears at the top of the report — All accounts first, then one card per account, each showing its balance. It is the same row you see on the dashboard and in Banking.
- Tap an account card to filter to just that account.
- The blue card now shows only the money in and out for that account.
- Below it you see that account's balance now: its opening balance, plus money in, less money out.
